Mujeres de la Luna

This series documents the daily lives of KakChi Quel, an indigenous group of women living along the shores of Lake Atitlán, Guatemala. Accessible only by boat, their remote community relies on resourcefulness, resilience, and mutual support to sustain their way of life. The women of KakChi Quel create intricate beadwork jewelry and traditional textile clothing, which they sell at local markets to support their families and preserve their cultural traditions. I was drawn to their quiet strength and the spirit of collaboration that underpins both their work and their relationships. Through this series, I aim to honor their creativity, dignity, and the vibrant continuity of indigenous knowledge passed between generations.
